The latest Converge news...

Bandai posted up some more pictures of the White Base and the new CORE versions of its complement of mobile suits on the Converge blog yesterday as the preorder phase is about to close.

The model will leave a very big footprint on your display shelf, 33 x 36 centimeters according to the blog. Some parts will also come on runners requiring some minor assembly. From the look of things the port side mobile suit hanger will only be modeled in transparent clear plastic. If that is the case it is just dumb since it ruins the overall aesthetic of the vessel.

The blog author also confirms that the CORE Core Fighter will only be available as part of this Operation V Strategy set. Still not sure if the CORE Operation V mobile suit team will be made available as a standalone product in the future, we can only hope for it. Such a nifty little figure and it even gets its own little stand (G-Defenser, I'm looking at you...). It looks a wee bit tiny for such a rare Converge figure though, it is not like they are supposed to be to scale anyway. Overall, very mixed feelings about the White Base set.

Also revealed at the end is the continution of the Gundam Wing line-up. Seems the Altron is coming in its Endless Waltz configuration sometime in the near future, which will probably please alot of fans out there.

UPDATE: December 27, 2017

Bandai posted up yet another mystery face on their blog. I don't think anyone will be surprised that it looks like the Psycho Gundam Mk-II will soon join the ranks. It looks like it will avoid the Geymalk treatment as well and become a "full-size" figure like the Mk-I before it, probably with transformation capability as well. Nice, I hope this will also translate into more rank and file mobile suits from ZZ Gundam making an appearance in 2018.

  1. Hopefully the Altron is just part of a normal release, seeing how they are handling the Virtue Bandai knows that collectors will pay extra just to finish team rosters.

    1. Great point Kyon. My fingers are crossed that it will be a normal release as they still need the Sandrock EW as well. Suffice it to say that I am beyond stoked that they may actually be finishing the team this coming year. And will ashamedly be purchasing the p-bandai/core/sp/ex/overpriced group set when it inevitably comes out as well.

    1. Nice, even if it is just ticking off the check boxes as we anticipated.

    2. I predict a Baund Doc in the near future given that it's already appeared in Standart and NEO, and Bandai seems to be on a ZZ Gundam roll recently (which I completely welcome!).

    3. The Mudrock from NEO3 was also just announced for the G-Frame series (together with a Dom and the Zeta Gundam) and that is probably not a concidence. It seems logical Converge will feature a resculpted Dom soon as well. They've almost covered the entire line-up of the One Year War by then. Now that I think of it the Perfect Zong seems a likely EX candidate for 2018 too.

    4. There are a lot of hidden gems in MSV. Perfect Zeong vs Perfect Gundam for SP? That might be neat. My guess is they'll try to milk the 'big' EX units a while longer... Alpha-Azieru, Apsalus, Big Zam...to name a few. Not to mention the various MAs from the One Year War, like Bigro, etc.

    5. I agree with you on Mudrock. Imagine...instead of all these RX-78 reprints, Bandai released a SP of RX-78 units 4,5,6,7...wouldn't that be awesome? Or a Zeta SP consisting of units 3A (white), 3B (gray), 3C (red). One can only dream...

  3. Just wondering has anyone who ordered the Hyper God Gundam set received it yet? The one I ordered keeps being delayed.

    1. It appears to be out in Japan at least; spotted it in the Mandarake inventory the other day (gone before I could even put it in my cart of course...).

    2. It is released in Japan and China. A bit slow here in Hong Kong, and I suspect many online orders ship from HK sellers. Unsure about Taiwan.

  4. The "Theater Poster Color Image Ver" 劇場ポスターカラーイメージVer White Bases have already started shipping! These are the ones that buyers could only get via lottery (150 produced worldwide), with the clear mobile suit deck and more subdued color scheme. There are a few on Yahoo Japan and eBay already, selling for thousands of dollars a piece...!
