It has been a bit quiet on the Converge news front as of late. Converge #16 is due out this July but the next set has yet to be revealed. The autumn sees a couple of additional EX figures thus far but now we can also add a Premium Bandai Converge: CORE release to the list. Slated for November is a five piece figure set of Real Type Color versions of some of the figures that were recently released with new sculpts.Unlike the previous two Converge Real-Type color sets this seems much more ambitious and looks to be a real addition to your collection unlike a Wing Gundam in slightly updated blue colour or the like. Where the two previous sets were simple colour tone changes these figures are actually getting proper new colour schemes. I think it makes sense that Bandai and FusionWorks begin to capitalize on the new molds with mobile suit variations like these. I do wish they would focus on more canonical colour swaps though, such as ace or elite unit mobile suits in custom colours (preferrably with new accessories of course).
I imagine this set will be quite popular and hard to come by, so we can start fretting about it now already. The CORE Real Type set will sell for ¥4800 plus tax. The P-Bandai page is here.
